MANILA -- "My Future You," one of the entries to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), will provide a unique flavor of sweet romance to this year's biggest movie event.

The movie, premiering on December 25, tells the story of Karen (Francine Diaz) and Lex (Seth Fedelin), who meet on an online dating app but live in two separate timelines 15 years apart. A comet helps them bond, and after realizing their peculiar circumstances, they band together to change the past and reshape their future.

Its director, Crisanto Aquino, was impressed by the young love team's work ethic and professionalism.

“I really adore these two kasi kapag nasa set ako, nasa isang area lang sila, pinag-uusapan nila ang script [at] paano [nila] ide-deliver at aatakihin. They talk about [their] scenes. Those are the traits of professional actors. These are really professional young actors of our generation,” Aquino told the media.

Josh Mercado Regarding their off-screen support, the filmmaker stated that he enjoys watching the two because they have been supportive of each other throughout the filming process.

“They support each other. Hindi sila naghihiwalay. Kahit sa pagkain, nagsusubuan. Nag-post ako rati ng ‘FranSeth is love’ kasi nakakakilig silang panoorin as young actors,” he shared.

Aquino also discussed the script, revealing that he pitched it to TBA Studios in 2020, but they had to cancel due to the pandemic.

“Actually, the script was written in 2020. It was initially for TBA Studios but we had the pandemic. They decided to cancel the project. Then I presented the material to Ms. Roselle (Monteverde), who instantly fell in love with it. There were other stars considered for this project, but Ms. Roselle ultimately chose FranSeth. And now, I must state that this project is truly for the two,” he revealed.

The director of "My Future You" confessed that there is pressure, citing entries from Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto, Judy Ann Santos, and Vilma Santos, who are all part of this year's MMFF. However, he feels that all films are intended to benefit the public and the movie industry.
