Living up to its mission and vision of honoring excellence and contributing to the dynamic growth of the local entertainment industry, the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) started the new year with the election of its officers for 2025.
For over four decades, PMPC has been at the forefront of recognizing and celebrating excellence in Philippine movies, television, and music through its prestigious annual events — the Star Awards for Movies, Star Awards for Music, and Star Awards for Television. These much-anticipated ceremonies honor outstanding talent and achievements in the entertainment industry.

Showbiz media veteran Mell Navarro is the duly elected president of the PMPC for 2025, bringing with him nearly three decades of colorful experience in the industry.
Prior to his election as president, Navarro has worked closely with the club's officers as secretary (and sometimes as vice president) serving past PMPC presidents Fernan De Guzman, Rommel Gonzales, Joe Barrameda, Melba Llanera, Roldan Castro, and the late Sandy Es Mariano.
A registered nurse by profession, show business beckoned in 1992 and the young Navarro then dedicated his working career as an advocate for Philippine cinema.
Currently, he also dabbles as a publicist for various entertainment projects, media and production events; and likewise as a curator for independently-produced films for streaming platforms since 2014.
Under the leadership of Navarro, together with equally talented and dedicated new officers, PMPC is poised to continue its mission of uplifting the entertainment industry, recognizing creative excellence, and ensuring the public stays informed and entertained.
