It's not only Cianne Dominguez who's enjoying a flourishing career in showbiz — her older sister is right there with her, and the two even get to share the same stage on It's Showtime.
From a trial stint to marking her four-year anniversary as a regular host on one of the country's longest-running noontime shows, Cianne has come a long way — and she has plenty to be grateful for.
One of the more heartwarming parts of her journey is having a family member by her side at work.
In case you didn't know, Chloe Florendo — one of the members of the rising girl group Baby Dolls — is Cianne's older sister.
In a guest appearance on MYX Now to promote her debut EP Gumamellow, Cianne opened up about her relationship with her sister, among other things.
She revealed that it was actually she who encouraged Chloe to join Girl on Fire, the competition that would eventually lead to Chloe's spot on Baby Dolls.
Cianne, on the other hand, was a finalist on Showtime’s “Sexy Babe.”
Meanwhile, Cianne admitted that her sister continues to amaze her to this day.
“Si Ate, pinush ko siya na sumali. Kapatid niya ako, ha, pero every time na nakikita ko siyang sumayaw, sobrang nagagalingan ako sa kanya,” she said.
“Iba ‘yung kaya niyang gawin kasi. Hindi normal — na parang hindi lahat kayang magpa-popping, mag-robotics, ganyan. So, sobrang na-a-amaze ako,” she added.
Explaining how she encouraged her sister to join the contest, she said, “Nung una, ayaw niya eh. Pero pinilit ko talaga eh. Sabi ko ‘Sige na ‘te sali ka.”
“Siguro kinakabahan din siya kasi host na ako nu’ng time na ‘yun. And siyempre, may masasabi rin ‘yung mga ibang tao, ‘di ba?” she added.
She continued: “Pero ako confident ako sa kanya na kaya ka nandito, kasi ikaw ‘yan. Meron kang talent na talagang maipapakita na ikaw talaga ‘yan.”
The 25-year-old singer and host also shared that working alongside her sister has been a source of comfort — giving her a sense of family close by, even on days when she can't see the rest of her loved ones at home.
“Sobrang happy ako kasi kasama ko siya every day. Kasi siyempre hindi naman na madaling umuuwi ng bahay. So, at least, may mafi-feel kang family,” Cianne said.
“Tulad neto lang. Nag-beach kaming dalawa, nag-Tagaytay kaming dalawa. Kasi nag-gu-grow din ‘yung relationship namin as siblings,” she added.
In a separate interview, Chloe opened up about what it's like working with her younger sister on the show.
“Actually, parang every day is a [great] moment kasi hindi ako masyadong nakakakita pa ng artist na kasama ‘yung kapatid nila sa work,” Chole said.
Despite being the older sibling, Chloe revealed that it has been Cianne who has been guiding her ever since she entered the industry — not the other way around.
Perhaps the most important lesson Cianne imparted to Chole was this: to choose her battles wisely.
“Hindi ako nahirapan kasi since nauna siya sa akin ng two years, naga-guide niya ako na ‘Ate, ito ‘yung mga pwede mong i-absorb at mga hindi mo pwedeng i-absorb,” Chole shared.
“Kasi mas emotional ako sa kanya. So naging shield ko siya sa mga unwanted or mga unnecessary na pwedeng dumaan sa akin,” she added.
