MANILA – Actress Claudine Barretto visited the wake of Rene Baterbonia on Thursday at a memorial chapel in Quezon City.
Barretto arrived with three companions and extended her condolences to the family. As a mother herself, the actress said she deeply sympathized with Baterbonia's mother.
"Very heavy. That’s all I can say. Nakikiramay tayo. Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilya," she told reporters.
Barretto likewise said she paid a visit because of Baterbonia's mother. "Sinusuportahan natin ang mga Claudinian. She's a Claudinian," she explained.
The actress and her companions left shortly after the mass for Baterbonia.
Ateneo earlier confirmed that Baterbonia and his teammate Divine Adili died after drowning during a team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora on Monday.
Baterbonia's remains will be flown to Davao City, where there will be a public viewing at the Christ the King Chapel in the Ateneo de Davao Senior High School Bangkal Campus. His body will then be brought to his hometown of Talacogon, Agusan del Sur.
Meanwhile, Adili's remains are still at the memorial chapel but will be repatriated to Nigeria in keeping with their culture, as requested by his parents.
