MANILA — Actor Anthony Jennings earned high praise from director Lester Pimentel, who described him as a “generational talent” during the launch of a new brand film in Tanay, Rizal.
Pimentel shared that the project’s concept was initially created without a specific actor in mind, saying it was originally intended for a “usual commercial model.” However, after seeing the “crazy” and “absurd” concept, he immediately thought Jennings was the only actor capable of pulling it off.
“Sabi ko walang ibang makakagawa nito kundi si Anthony… I really believed in this guy as a good actor, as a good comedian, and his overall talent. Talagang he’s a generational talent,” Pimentel said.
Jennings admitted he felt nervous seeing himself in the finished film, especially after undergoing a dramatic transformation for the role, including shaving his head.
“Nagulat ako, kinabahan ako e syempre ngayon lang ako makikita ng tao na sobrang grabe e kita mo balat na lang talaga,” he joked, adding that he was proud of the final output and praised the directors’ vision for creating something “ibang-iba” from usual projects.
The actor also shared that despite the physical change, he enjoyed the process of making the film and remained grateful for the opportunity. “Grateful ako na naging kalbo ako,” he said.
Director Sid Maderazo meanwhile revealed that the project took time to complete and stemmed from an unconventional idea from Pimentel. He also acknowledged the challenge of collaborating with a fellow director on set.
Aside from discussing the film, Jennings reflected on his current journey in showbiz, describing himself as “miso-blessed,” a playful take on the ramen flavor and his outlook in life.
“Ano sa’kin, miso-blessed… kasi me so blessed. Ngayon kasi dahan-dahan, unti-unting nakakabawi sa buhay. Masaya lang din, grateful ako na may mga blessings na pumapasok pa rin ngayon sa buhay ko,” he said.
Jennings also teased upcoming projects, including work on the U.S.-based project “Nurse the Dead” and another forthcoming film, saying fans can expect more from him in the future.
