Actress-turned-politician Marjorie Barretto shared how her journey has been as a single mother to five children–– Dani, Julia, Claudia, Leon, and Erich. In her recent guest appearance on The Bare It All Podcast, the celebrity mom admitted that it has been easy because of how helpful and understanding her children have been.
“Was it harder raising your children alone? What did that entire journey teach you?” Dani asked.

Marjorie admitted that she was thankful she raised them alone and not with a partner but despite this, there are days when she would get tired as well.
“Most of the time, let’s say 80 percent of the time, I’m glad I raised you guys alone kasi kung hindi naman, yung partner ko, ay magaling na partner in raising children or in the decision making, hindi balanced, that would be so hard,” she admitted.
“I think it was easy deciding on my own, especially alam ko naman yung ibang-iba yung personality if you guys had your father. Hindi makakatulong sa decision-making,” she added.
The mom of five then recalled her experience with her youngest child, Erich, and how she realized the struggle of being a single mother at her age.

“But, there are days na I get tired. There are days like now siguro because I’m older, I had all the energy then, so raising my kids alone when you were kids, I had all the energy,” she expressed.
Marjorie also gave credit to her children, who have been helpful in being “parents” to each other, especially the older ones, who would help out with responsibilities. She then shared how happy she is that her children are all bonded, even though they no longer live in the same household.
“I’m glad na dala dala ninyo yung closeness niyo up to now. It’s not just about being close, it’s really being there for one another. I can’t say I’m a single mom because I have you guys to really count on,” she shared.
