MANILA -- (UPDATED) Kapamilya star Coco Martin is now part of AKTOR or the League of Filipino Actors.
This was confirmed by screen veteran and AKTOR member Charo Santos through her social media post on Monday, as she uploaded snaps with Martin and AKTOR chairman Dingdong Dantes.
According to the caption of her post, the two actors met at her home last September when they invited Martin to be part of the group.
"Some conversations happen quietly at home, yet carry a bigger purpose for the industry. ...We invited Coco to become part of @aktorph, and true to his heart for the craft, he said yes — not only as a member, but with a sincere desire to contribute more meaningfully to the acting community. With his influence, discipline, generosity, and work ethic, Coco is such a valuable addition to the organization, and I am truly proud to welcome him into AKTOR," Santos wrote.
"Congratulations to Chairman Dingdong Dantes and the entire executive team for the many milestones you continue to achieve for Filipino actors and our industry. Exciting times ahead," she added.
On Tuesday afternoon, Martin said that he is happy and proud to be part of AKTOR as he uploaded snaps taken from the group's recent general assembly.
"Masaya at proud ako maging parte ng AKTOR PH. Sama-sama nating itaguyod ang dignidad, talento at boses ng bawat Pilipinong artista. Maraming salamat, @aktorph!" Martin wrote.
Founded in May 2020, AKTOR "is a community of empowered Filipino actors working together to uplift the craft and each other."
From 26 founding members, AKTOR now has over 300 members with actress Agot Isidro as vice chairman and Iza Calzado as president.
In the comment section of Santos' post, Dantes left the message: "Thank you so much, Ma’am, for making this happen."
Santos replied with words: "Thank you, Dong. I'm really happy it all came together!"
Calzado also thanked Santos for using her influence to protect actors and help the acting industry.
"Thank you so much Ma’am @charosantos for using your power and influence to protect and nurture our community!" Calzado wrote.
Santos replied: "Thank you, Iza. Just doing what I can for a community that has given all of us so much. We move forward together!"
Currently, Martin is gearing up for his upcoming series "Sigabo" with real-life partner Julia Montes.
