As the summer heat rolls in and vacation season kicks off in the Philippines, several local celebrities are already mapping out how they plan to spend their much-awaited break.
Here’s a look at where stars like Gerald Anderson, KD Estrada, Jason Dy, Gela Atayde, Ashley Sarmiento, and more plan to spend their summer vacation.
Fresh off from PBB Collab 2.0, Caprice Cayetano and Ashley Sarmiento are prioritizing quality time with their loved ones.
“Summer plans ko po ay gusto ko po gumala with my family, reconnect and catch up po kasi matagal-tagal din po akong nawala. Sana po kahit saan po, out of town or out of country po sana. Sana po sa Bangkok po,” Caprice said in an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN.
“Summer plans ko po siguro ay mag-go sa beach or mag-hiking or out of town sa Korea. Sa (beach po is sa) La Union kasi napaguusapan po lagi with family pero ngayon po since taga-doon din siya (si Rave Victoria) baka siya po maging tour guide,” Ashley said.
PBB Gen 11 Rain Celmar also would like to slow down this vacation: “My summer plans are to rest with the family and siguro travel na lang.”
KD Estrada is hoping this will finally be the year he gets to tick solo travel off his list if given a break from his busy schedule.
“Summer plans for this year, I don't know yet, but actually maybe solo travel. Kasi last year I also said this to an interview with PUSH but di ko natupad kasi nagka work ako and I got busy, but hopefully this summer I'll be able to travel solo,” KD expressed.
He is eyeing to go to local summer spots, adding: “Honestly anything here is good, Siargao I would recommend, Batangas, Baguio, Tagaytay, mga classic lang kami. For me, nothing beats talaga yung mga local.”
Similar to KD, Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson is also busy with his upcoming series Blood VS Duty. However, Gerald recommended his resort in Zambales for people to check out and enjoy this hot season.
“I think work lang wala akong summer plans. Mahirap mag plano if sunod sunod ang trabaho. It's a blessing, but siyempre yun lang nakakamiss ang bakasyon. But this Holy Week, pupunta ako sa Zambales kasi I have to stay in my resort para chill lang muna dun and then go back to work (after),” he said. “There’s a nice place called Hayati in Botolan, Zambales. Check it out.”
On the other hand, Jason Dy, Christof, Gela Atayde, Jarlo Base, and Jeremy Glinoga shared their go-to summer destinations and activities.
“Summer destination, bilang mainit na ngayon, syempre, somewhere cold, so sa Baguio or kahit Tagaytay para malapit lang or sa beach. Actually, I've never been to Siargao, I've always wanted to go to Siargao,” singer Jason Dy said.
For Christof, son of Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas, he would like to explore the beauty of the Philippines while improving his music skills and keeping his body fit.
“My summer plans are to get back to the gym, to work on more music and to travel to the Philippines. Recently, I went to La Union, so La Union is very special, especially San Fernando. It's very peaceful and it's very enjoyable. So, I would say San Fernando,” he stated.
Gela Atayde also recommended her go to summer destination: “I would recommend somewhere around the Philippines, ako as someone who hasn't really gone so much around the Philippines. I really wanna go back to El Nido Palawan, so that's something I've been doing back, that's a place I have been going back to and I do recommend it to people, El Nido Palawan.”
Singer-songwriter Jarlo Base then recommended outdoor activities that anyone would enjoy doing this summer.
“Snorkeling, yun yung ginagawa namin kasi since yung mga tito and pinsan taga dun sila may mga boat sila, nangigisda sila dun hihiram lang ako and pag hiram ko pupunta na ako ng laot. Minsan wala na akong snorkeling (equipment) tas dive ako dun hanggang pinaka-ilalim. I think that's something you should try kasi napaka freeing niya kapag nasa ilalim kana,” Jarlo explained.
Singer-producer Jeremy G, meanwhile, wanted to go international to explore beyond local shores: “Summer plans, actually kanina ko pa naisip to I wanna go to Thailand.”
“I haven't really explored other parts of Asia besides Japan and the Philippines. I just wanna be within Thailand and experience the culture, experience the vibe.”111
