Jake Cuenca revealed that he is open to doing frontal nudity.
In an interview with Bianca Gonzalez for the new season of Cinema One talk show The B-Side, Jake shared what would make him consider it.
“Given the right circumstances, given the right director, given the right script, it has to be perfect. Given the right audience for it, yeah (I will do it). Because for me, once I accept the project and dedicate myself, nothing gets in my way of telling the story. That's always my mindset. I will do it or die. So it's something that needs to be agreed upon before we even go down this road. But if I believe in the project enough, yeah, nothing will get in my way,” he expressed.
When asked if he has ever been scared of being typecast in sexy roles, even back when he was doing telenovela remakes, Jake shared that no, he hasn’t.
“We were just having this conversation about so many transitions in one’s career, but the best thing, like I said, the best asset you can have as an artist is to be able to adapt. You have to adapt,” he shared.
Jake also looked back on his time as a member of the sexy boy group ASAP Coverboys.
“It was fun kasi we had a tour and we got to do things that I would never have imagined like doing a concert. We were not even singers and dancers. We had a world tour when I look at it, such a huge blessing and at the same time I got to do it with my best friends,” he said.
He also shared that their friendship has lasted until the present.
“I ended up being the best man of Victor Basa; we were all still close. That was a fun time,” Jake shared.
ASAP Coverboys made hearts swoon in 2006, featuring members Jake Cuenca, Zanjoe Marudo, Rafael Rosell, Jon Avila, Victor Basa, Will Devaughn, John James Uy, Ron Morales, and Marvin Wijangco (Raymundo).
During the episode, Jake also gamely took on the blind box segment, drawing questions from a box and answering them without revealing what they were. In one of them, he said: “Bumalik ka na lang sa modeling, hindi ka magaling.”
Giving more clues and context to the mystery question, Jake added that it’s important to grow and push your limits.
“If you stick in there, if you hang in there, if you do your best to bring out your full potential, there will come a time, things will come full circle. You'll be able to prove yourself in front of that person. I was able to. So if I was able to, anyone can. You get to vindicate yourself on a grand stage, too. Sometimes it comes in the form of, It's an award night and that person's there. Or it comes in the form of, ikaw na yung bida ngayon and that person's there,” he said.
