Amid mixed reactions from viewers, Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu calmly addressed concerns surrounding the new timeslot of her primetime series The Alibi, offering clarity and easing worries among her supporters.
Earlier this March, Kim turned emotional as The Alibi, which she leads alongside Paulo Avelino, took over the first primetime slot starting March 16, replacing Coco Martin’s long-running program FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. The move brought overwhelming joy and excitement among the KimPau fans at the time.
“Hindi ko alam kung bakit talaga (ako umiyak). Nung sinabi nila sa akin naiyak talaga ako. Pa-20 years (in show business) na tayo this April and isang beses pa lang ako nag-first timeslot. Ang dami nang nangyari sa ABS and all, ready ang The Alibi, handa kami.”
“May mga bagay talaga na nangyayari na hindi mo ine-expect. Pero grateful lang talaga ako. Ngayon, hindi na ako nage-expect ng anything. Grateful lang siyempre dahil naka-experience tayo (maging first time slot) kahit na kung hanggang kailan man tayo sa pwesto na ‘yun,” she previously said.
It was later announced that The Alibi will be moved to the 8:45 p.m. slot starting April 6, making way for the new series Blood vs Duty starring Richard Gutierrez, Bela Padilla, and Gerald Anderson. This prompted mixed reactions from fans who took to social media to express dismay and confusion.
Addressing the situation directly on X (formerly Twitter) on March 28, the Chinita Princess explained that the adjustment had always been anticipated.
“Ola!! I’ve been reading your comments here on X about the time slot and I just want to reassure you all—no need to worry. From the very beginning, we already knew that The Alibi would be on the 3rd slot.”
She went on to share that their team stepped in temporarily due to “unforeseen circumstances” involving another project. Many inferred that the project could be Coco and Julia Montes’ new series Sigabo which was supposed to air last March 16 for the first time slot but was postponed.
“There were just some unforeseen circumstances where another show wasn’t quite ready yet,” she continued. “Since The Alibi has already been completed and has been streaming on Prime since last year, we’re simply filling in the slot for a little while.”
“So here we are 😊 Everything is going according to plan, and everything is under control. Thank you for your love, patience, and nonstop support. Love you all! 8:45 here we go!!!,” Kim maintained.

Her message was met with appreciation from fans, many of whom thanked the actress for her transparency and clarity. Supporters also reiterated their commitment to continue watching the series regardless of its airing time.
Kim’s return to the first primetime slot marked a full-circle moment in her career, with her last appearance in the coveted timeslot dating back two decades ago through her debut teleserye, Sana Maulit Muli.
