Kapamilya actress Iza Calzado took to social media to share her special reunion with veteran actress and Sisa star Hilda Koronel.

On her Instagram page, Iza looked back on her relationship with Hilda whom she referred to as her “Mama Susan.”

“To many, she is Hilda Koronel. To me, she is Mama Susan,” Iza wrote. “The woman who gave me my first MAC makeup, a bright pink Lipglass, back in 2002. Someone whose career I looked up to and quietly hoped to emulate.”

Iza added that initially, she was intimidated by Hilda, but later on, their relationship blossomed. “An actress who once intimidated me, who eventually became my friend and my mama. What a gift it is to be able to say that.”

The reunion, according to Iza, came after several failed attempts to meet due to conflicting schedules. This time, however, timing worked in their favor as both actresses happened to guest separately on journalist Karmina Constantino’s podcast.

“We had been trying to see each other since her last trip while doing Sisa, and again on her most recent visit, but our schedules just would not align. Miraculously, God made a way for our paths to cross during our separate podcast interviews with (Karmina Constantino). Finally getting to hug my Mama again felt so, so good,” she added.

In a video, Iza can be seen hiding behind a couch as Hilda was talking to Karmina as she suddenly greeted the veteran actress and called her “mama.” The two then hugged each other while Hilda called Iza her “baby”.

“I may have missed her movie premiere, but I was able to keep my word and watch Sisa yesterday. Another thought-provoking piece by @junrobleslana One that lets you see and feel the strength of women, especially Sisa, as she seeks justice in a broken system and freedom from oppression. What a powerful film aptly released on women’s month! Hopefully still in cinemas until the end of the month! 🙏🏾,” Iza continued, noting Hilda's recent film directed by award-winning director Jun Robles Lana.

As one of her advocacies is women’s rights and empowerment, Iza celebrated the theme of the film.

“In the film you see how women support other women. In this industry, I’m glad to have found an exceptional woman whose presence and love has inspired me for years whether on set or when we are thousands of miles apart just messaging on social media platforms. I’m so blessed to call you my Mama Susan, Miss Hilda! I love you! ❤️,” Iza expressed.

Hilda, for her part, responded with equal warmth, writing, “I love you my baby girl. you will always be my baby. I'm so, so happy to finally see you and hug you ❤️😘.”
