BTS is proving once again that their music goes beyond entertainment, as their new song “Body to Body” is now being recognized for helping save lives.

In an Instagram post on March 21, the American Heart Association confirmed that "Body to Body", which serves as the opening track for BTS's newest album Arirang, hits the right tempo of 120 beats per minute that is used for effective chest compressions for Hands-Only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

As per AHA, CPR is an “emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating.” In adult victims of cardiac arrest, “it is reasonable for rescuers to perform chest compressions at a rate of 100 to 120 per minute and to a depth of at least 2 inches (5 cm) for an average adult, while avoiding excessive chest compression depths (greater than 2.4 inches [6 cm])”.

This one’s for the BTS ARMY!  We’re jamming to 'Body to Body,' because it has the right beat for Hands-Only CPR!” AHA wrote in their post.

You could save a life with two simple steps: If you see a teen or adult collapse, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest,” the caption continued.

The announcement of AHA quickly resonated online, with netizens and ARMYs expressing both pride and gratitude.

This is very good use of bts song influence,” one wrote.

BTS always cares💜,” another added.

Body to Body” is part of the 14-track lineup from Arirang, which also includes songs “Hooligan,” “Aliens,” “FYA,” “2.0,” “No. 29,” “SWIM,” “Merry Go Round,” “NORMAL,” “Like Animals,” “they don’t know ’bout us,” “One More Night,” “Please,” and “Into the Sun.” The album, released on March 20, marks the group’s highly anticipated return to the music scene.

The globally renowned K-Pop boy group is also set to hold a free concert at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21. Their special concert, BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG, will also stream globally on Netflix at 8 p.m. KST (7 p.m. Philippine time), marking the platform’s first-ever live event broadcast from Korea.

The comeback is especially significant as it reunites RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook on one stage for the first time after completing their mandatory military service.

Meanwhile, “Body to Body” joins a lineup of globally recognized songs identified by the AHA as ideal for CPR rhythm. These include “StayinAlive” by Bee Gees, “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake, “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson, “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele, and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston, among others.
