Vice Ganda recently documented his visit to a zoo in Japan where he finally got to see the viral monkey named Punch.
"We are here at Ichikawa Zoo. We are going to visit Punch," Vice shared in his latest YouTube vlog.
Punch is a macaque who gained viral attention online after videos showed him being rejected by the other monkeys in his enclosure, prompting caretakers to give him a stuffed orangutan toy for comfort.
However, Vice, along with his partner Ion Perez and their friends, initially could not spot the monkey as Punch was hiding from view.
Towards the end of their visit, the monkey finally appeared, delighting the group. "Okay na, na-happy na kami. Nagpakita si Punch... Nung pauwi na tayo biglang pak, perform din siya," Vice recalled.
The It's Showtime host also shared his observations about the monkey, noting how distinct Punch looked compared to the others in the enclosure. "He's cute at tsaka special talaga siya noh? Iba 'yung hitsura niya, iba kulay niya."
Vice further relayed: "Tapos maganda pa 'yung balahibo, cute. Pero hindi talaga siya nakikihalubilo dun sa hindi mga masyadong malalaki. Dun lang siya sa mga malalaki talaga, parang parents talaga hanap niya noh? Pero good kasi merong nag-aalaga sa kanya. Merong gusto na sa kanya na [unggoy]."
In a previous interview, Vice shared that he and Ion intentionally included a visit to Ichikawa City Zoo in their Japan itinerary after being moved by videos of Punch circulating online.
The comedian traveled to Japan for the Philippines-Japan Film Festival 2026 where And the Breadwinner is… and Call Me Mother were screened.

"Maaga kami pupunta, two days before the festival. Bukod sa kumain, plano namin puntahan si Punch. Naiyak kasi ako nang nakita ko 'yung video. Malapit lang sa pag-stayan namin. So, pupuntahan namin si Punch,” she said in a previous interview with ABS-CBN News.
