Kris Aquino shared another update on her recovery and is now looking for a Tai Chi teacher and a walking coach to support her during her upcoming physical rehabilitation.
In an Instagram post on February 9, Kris shared that they are now finally settling into their new home after spending six weeks in the hospital. As she continues to recover, she said she is preparing to take the next step in her healing journey.
During her hospitalization, Kris underwent a minor procedure during which she said she stopped breathing for almost two minutes after her lungs stopped functioning. She had her Port-a-Cath redone the same month. In her late post, she took time to acknowledge the medical professionals who helped her through the experience.
As she goes home after overcoming these medical challenges, Kris said she is set to begin physical medical rehabilitation next week.
“I [will] start my physical medical rehabilitation next week after the stitches in my Port-a-Cath are removed,” she shared.
With her rehabilitation approaching, Kris said she is now in need of a Tai Chi teacher and a walking coach who can work closely with her and can understand her condition.
“Please help me find a patient and knowledgeable #TaiChi teacher willing to do one-on-one classes, who will be understanding that I have many physical limitations?” she wrote.
She also explained why she feels the need for a walking coach as part of her recovery.
“And a walking coach who can start me slowly. Okay, I know – why a coach? Because several of the maintenance medicines I'm on cause dizziness and sometimes loss of balance,” she said.
Kris candidly shared her concerns about her current physical state and the precautions she needs to take as she begins moving more.
“Well, let's just be truthful: to begin with, ‘super lampa’ na ko. I cannot afford to have any fractured bones. Preferably someone who can easily catch me if and when ‘matisod’ or ‘mapatid’ ako, and won't be bothered that we'll have two nurses and a few others in front and behind to make sure I'm okay,” she explained.
She added her hopes for the walking coach to be able to adapt to her medical needs. She explained that sun exposure is a known trigger for lupus flare-ups, which is why walking sessions would need to be done indoors or at dusk.
Kris also shared that she is dealing with three Deep Vein Thrombosis cases — in her upper left leg and in both arms — making it even more important for her to have proper guidance during rehabilitation. She also mentioned a fourth medical concern but chose not to go into detail.
“I prefer not to discuss because it's already enough that it's a source of major anxiety for me,” she said.
Earlier this month, Kris first revealed that she had Deep Vein Thrombosis on her arms and had also sought help in finding an indoor swimming pool, as swimming will be part of her recovery.
“Please help me, do you know of any indoor swimming pools in any physical rehab centers or hotels that offer health club memberships? Or are there any condo units, homes or townhomes for lease in Makati,Taguig,Mandaluyong,San Juan, or Pasig that have easy to cover with the big patio and garden umbrellas I’ve seen online- lap pools or shallow swimming pools; and are within 30 minutes inclusive of traffic from St Luke’s Global, MMC, Asian Hospital, Medical City, or Cardinal Santos?” she wrote.
As she prepares to begin her rehabilitation, Kris also shared that she is slowly feeling like herself again and is getting ready to launch her podcast once she is medically cleared.
“But I feel it, do you? I’m slowly getting back the old ‘say-it-like-it-is, ready-to-laugh, even-at-herself’ me. Once I get my medical clearance, I’ll be ready for my #KrisPodcast,” she said.
She also teased the team she may be working with, adding, “What makes it even more exciting is the team I may have the chance to work with—for now, that’s a big secret.”
In the caption of her post, Kris shared her message of gratitude for all those who are continuously praying for her speedy recovery, writing: “Your LOVE continues to save me from my loneliness and fears. Praying for someone is 1 of the PUREST and most meaningful acts of love. THANK YOU and i wish you the best of luck. 🩵💚”
