Tal Brosas, the lesbian daughter of actress-comedienne K Brosas, spoke up in defense of her mother after Alvin Aragon publicly questioned the parenting of those who accepted their LGBTQIA+ children.
The discussion began during an interview with Cris Rafael on February 19, where Alvin talked about parenthood, faith, and homosexuality. In the conversation, he cited K Brosas alongside Ian Veneracion and Gloc-9, questioning parents who openly accept their children’s sexual orientation.
K responded soon after, using her trademark humor while directly addressing the implications of Alvin’s remarks. In a video, she questioned why acceptance was being framed as a failure in parenting.
“Parang kino-kondena mo kami dahil tanggap namin ‘yung mga anak namin, dahil members sila ng LGBTQ? Bakit? Ano namang pakialam mo?... Pwede kang magsabi ng opinyon mo pero para i-drag mo ‘yung name namin na parang ang sama-sama naming magulang, medyo naka-ano ka don.”
She went on to stress respect and boundaries, saying, “Respeto lang sa isa’t isa bilang tao… ‘Wag mong husgahan ang pagpapalaki ko sa anak ko,” and later added, “Hindi perpekto ang relationship namin pero masasabi kong may tama akong ginawa.”
A day later, on February 20, Tal addressed the issue in a Facebook video, explaining why she felt compelled to speak in defense of her mother.
“Hindi naman niya deserve na duru-duruin mo lang siya at i-name drop mo lang siya nang ganon ganon lang,” she said.
Tal then shared her personal background, noting that she grew up attending a Catholic school and that her experiences did not align with the condemnation she was hearing.
“Wala akong na-pick up sa Bible, wala akong na-pick up sa teachings ni Lord na you have to hate people, you have to be arrogant, and you have to condemn other people on behalf of God. So literally, Diyos ka ba? Dahil you’re not in the right position to judge anyone. You’re not in the right position to impose your beliefs on anyone...You’re not in the right position to act like you control anyone’s life.”
She emphasized that humility is a value shared across belief systems and religions.
“You name it all, iisa ang sinasabi... Lahat sila iisa ng sinasabi kuya na hindi tama ang maging mayabang, hindi tama na magpaka-morally superior ka, at hindi tama na nangha-hate ka ng kapwa mong tao dito sa mundo.”
She continued, “Kung lahat ng religion ganon ang sinasabi, who are you to judge? Who are you to go into these interviews, imposing to other people your beliefs...just to prove you’re a good man? I don’t think so.”
Tal also clarified that she identifies as agnostic, stressing that differences in belief should not be used as grounds for condemnation.
“And ang ironic pa doon is I’m actually agnostic. So wala akong pakialam kung anong sasabihin mo, kasi unang-una, hindi naman ako Christian. Hindi na ako practicing.”
“If someone has a different belief, if someone has different values, or if someone has a different religion from you, you don’t impose anything. You just share with them yung teachings ni Lord... But you never impose your beliefs on them because, again, iba-iba tayo ng opinyon, iba-iba tayo ng kinalakihan, at iba-iba tayo ng mga gusto sa buhay. Huwag nating pakialaman ’yun,” she added.

Questioning what she saw as a disconnect between words and actions, Tal said: “Ang nakakatawa dun kasi, you’re acting so overly religious, but you’re not being Christ-like. You’re not displaying attributes of Jesus Christ.”
“And I’m freaking sure that the Lord doesn’t like what you’re doing. And that makes you a hypocrite. And being a hypocrite [means that] you don’t practice what you preach.”
According to Tal, compassion and humility define the moral character of a person and not the labels put upon oneself.
“Ang ironic doon, tinalo mo pa yung mga atheist or non-religious people na wala silang religion, but they have so much humility, they have so much compassion. They help people. They help the community. Nakakatawa kasi, ’yun pa nga ang Christ-like attributes, ’di ba? But ikaw na overly religious, wala ka nung mga ‘yun.”
She added that religion should humble a person, saying, “As I can see, ginagamit mo lang naman na weapon ‘yan just to spread your hate and homophobia.”

Tal emphasized that being a lesbian does not make her a bad person. She made a clear defense of her upbringing and her mother’s acceptance of her sexuality.
“Wala namang nangyari sa akin. Sabi nga ng mom ko, hindi naman ako nag-adik. Hindi naman ako nagsusugal. Hindi naman ako napariwara. So I don’t know why you are so hateful to us na wala naman kaming ginagawa. We’re just living our truth.”
“Hindi masamang tao or hindi naging masamang ina yung nanay ko just because tinanggap niya ako bilang tomboy,” she maintained.
Tal concluded by urging that faith be reflected in Alvin’s actions, saying: “Kung gusto mong mag-preach about the word of God, siguro ang unang-una mong gawin talaga is i-apply mo siya sa sarili mo. Yun lang. Piece of advice. Thank you.”
Earlier, Tal had also shared her mother’s response on social media, writing that Alvin had “absolutely failed” in interpreting and following his faith.
“If your faith and beliefs make you act OPPOSITE of what’s taught to you, hindi ang Diyos or kung sino man ang nagsasalita galing sa bibig mo. It’s just your EMPTY SOUL, and you cover that up by projecting your own traumas and insecurities onto others,” she wrote.
“And you know what that means? It means you have ABSOLUTELY FAILED sa mismong aral na tinuturo ng kahit sinong 'God" sa mundong to. It doesn’t make you morally superior. In fact, it makes you a HYPOCRITE, and worse than a person who rejects religion but acts with kindness, humility, and compassion,” she continued.
As of this writing, Alvin has yet to respond to Tal’s statements.
