For the past week, Izzy Trazona’s husband and former reality show contestant Alvin Aragon has found himself in the center of renewed public scrutiny, as old statements about his past resurfaced amid backlash over his recent remarks on religion and family matters. As online discussions intensified, netizens circulated a Facebook video from September 2024 in which Alvin openly spoke about a chapter of his life he said was marked by repeated acts of stealing, including from R&B singer, Kris Lawrence.
In the video, Alvin looked back on his younger years with stark honesty, recounting how theft once became a pattern in his life.
“Alam mo dati, magnanakaw ako. Marami akong ninakawan. Ninakawan ko yung lola ko, binubuksan ko yung drawer niya kumukuha ako ng ₱5,000, ₱10,000. Tsaka kapitbahay namin, kinukuha ko yung cellphone,” he began.
His story continued even as he entered show business, which began when he joined StarStruck Season 1 in 2003 on GMA. According to Alvin, even as opportunities opened for him, his old ways followed. He recalled how stealing extended into his professional circle, including an incident involving R&B singer Kris.
“Nung napasok ako sa showbiz, aba doon ako nagnanakaw. Nagnanakaw ako ng cellphone din. Si Kris Lawrence, yung singer, ninakawan ko ng cellphone yun sa bahay niya. Meron pang isa eh, co-worker ko sa showbiz. Kinuhanan ko siya ng almost ₱40,000 sa bahay niya,” Alvin recalled.
He admitted that the money and items he took were spent on indulgence, saying: “I spent the money sa pagma-mall, pagbili ng material things. Ganoon ako ka-loko loko...Nagnanakaw ako. Magnanakaw ako.”
The turning point in his story, as Alvin described it, came in 2009, when he said he found faith and a new understanding of accountability.
“Until 2009, nakilala ko si Lord. Nakilala ko ang Panginoong Hesus. Naintindihan ko yung ginawa niya sa cross na may kabayaran pala yung kasalanan, yun yon eh. You will go to hell when you die because of sins. But because of the love of God, he sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross,” he said, framing his transformation through a spiritual lens.
“Finorgive ako ni Lord sa mga pagnanakaw na ginawa ko. Binago niya ako, binago niya ang puso ko. Simula 2009 hindi na ako nagnanakaw,” he added.

One of the most striking parts of his story in the Facebook video involved confronting those he said he had wronged. He recalled encountering Kris at a gym and decided to finally admit what he had done.
“Tapos nakita ko si Kris Lawrence sa gym sa Galleria, nag-pray ako kay Lord sabi ko ‘hihingi ako ng tawad dito.’ Sinabi ko sakaniya, ‘Kris ako yung nagnakaw ng [cellphone] mo.’ Nagulat siya. Sabi ko ‘I’m sorry,’” Alvin narrated.
He shared a similar encounter with his former co-worker, saying: “Tsaka yung co-worker ko na ninakawan ko ng ₱40,000 nakasabay ko sa isang cr [comfort room] sa isang office diyan sa Quezon City. Sabi ko sakaniya, ‘ako po ang kumuha ng pera niyo, I’m sorry,’” he said, adding that both individuals chose forgiveness over repayment. “Ini-spare na ako ni Lord. Hindi na nila ako pinagbayad o pinabalik. Pinatawad din nila ako.”
Alvin further illustrated how, in later years, he believed his faith continued to be tested. He recalled working as a jewelry seller and being entrusted by his boss with items worth ₱2 million. According to him, although he could have easily stolen the items, he said he did not, insisting that he had already changed. He also spoke of becoming a general manager of a local pharmacy in Cavite, where he handled daily earnings and deposited them in the bank. Even during moments when he and his wife Izzy had nothing to eat, he said temptation did not win.
“Binago ako ni Lord Jesus. Wala akong ninakaw kahit naghihirap kami ng asawa ko doon sa trabaho ko.”
Reflecting on his past and present, Alvin acknowledged that temptation still existed but said faith consistently gave him strength. He also directed his message to others who might see themselves in his former actions.
“Kung ikaw magnanakaw sa work mo, sa family mo...ang good news ko sa'yo, pwede ka pang mabago. Pwede kang baguhin ng Panginoon.”
Beyond this resurfaced confession, Alvin has also recently been the subject of discussion due to another old video in which he once expressed doubts about the paternity of his youngest child which he later said were resolved when the child was born and he saw a resemblance to himself.
