Fresh from celebrating her 55th birthday on February 14, Kris Aquino once again reached out to her supporters to share an update about her health.

On February 17, Kris posted on Instagram videos and photos of her intimate birthday celebration at their home in Makati City. Surrounded by her sons, Josh and Bimby, and a small circle of close friends who have stood by her through the years, the Queen of All Media marked the occasion meaningfully.

Alongside the clips from the gathering, Kris also spoke about developments in her medical journey, admitting that some aspects have required her to gather even more courage.

“I hate not revealing the whole truth but sometimes my health has some difficult developments that require me to be very #brave,” she wrote.

Kris then revealed that she is set to begin what she described as a “difficult journey”,  choosing not to disclose full details but explaining the urgency behind her decision.

“This Sunday I begin a difficult journey because if I did nothing it would be my brain or my heart that would be in trouble,” she continued.

Along with the update, Kris expressed gratitude to her doctors for guiding her through the process and allowing her to fully understand what lies ahead.

“Thank you @drkatcee, @ging.md and Dr Jombi LICHAUCO for not scaring me and allowing me to do my own research and for promising to watch over me for 6 hours.”

Earlier this month, Kris shared that she had been diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis and was searching for a home with a swimming pool to aid in her physical rehabilitation. Shortly after, she revealed that she had returned home following six weeks of hospitalization.

Preparing for rehabilitation, Kris said that she is looking for a Tai Chi teacher and a walking coach, acknowledging her physical limitations.

“Well, let's just be truthful: to begin with, ‘super lampa’ na ko. I cannot afford to have any fractured bones. Preferably someone who can easily catch me if and when ‘matisod’ or ‘mapatid’ ako, and won't be bothered that we'll have two nurses and a few others in front and behind to make sure I'm okay,” she explained.

As she reflected on turning 55, Kris also revisited her birthday wish. She had previously expressed her hope of reaching 60 and eventually holding both senior citizen and person with disability (PWD) cards. This time, she adjusted her goal, saying: “Previously I said let’s go for 60, 68 seems like a better goal. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes.”
