The family of the late Taiwanese star and Meteor Garden actress Barbie Hsu has denied allegations of an inheritance feud involving them and her husband, Koo Jun-Yup, also known as DJ Koo.
In a report shared by The Korea Times, the family publicly rejected claims suggesting a dispute over the inheritance Barbie left behind. They described the reports as harmful speculation and emphasized that they maintain a good relationship with DJ Koo.
“I detest lawsuits. They waste people and money,” Barbie’s mother, S Mom, said, according to The Korea Times. “I now call Koo Jun-yup my son. He is my son. Just as he loved (Barbie) so deeply and respected me, I also love him.”
In an article shared by The Chosun Daily, Taiwanese media outlet ET Today claimed that Barbie’s mother and Koo Jun-yup were engaged in a fierce legal battle over her estate, with both sides reportedly preparing legal countermeasures.
Barbie’s sister, Taiwanese TV host Dee Hsu also addressed the reports, saying: “Whoever creates this sort of rumor is malicious and has ill intent. Koo gave my sister pure love and real happiness. Our family is grateful to him,” she said. “He is our family. We will protect him.”
The family likewise expressed hope that the rumors surrounding the alleged inheritance dispute would come to an end.

The report surfaced just a week after DJ Koo and Barbie’s family, along with close friends and colleagues, gathered to commemorate the first anniversary of Barbie's death and unveil her memorial sculpture, which was designed by DJ Koo himself.
During the event, both S Mom and Dee Hsu expressed gratitude for DJ Koo and his love for Barbie.
“[He is] a man who truly loves her, doesn't ask for everything, doesn't want to love anything other than love, holding a clean, simple, no impurity heart [that] protects my sister. As long as I think like this, my heart will calm down, so I really appreciate my brother-in-law!” Dee said in a post.
Previously, DJ Koo issued a public statement as speculative reports about the inheritance emerged, following estimates that Barbie’s estate was worth no less than 1 billion New Taiwan dollars (approximately $32 million).
“I’m enduring excruciating pain and grief, and I have neither the strength nor the will to speak,” he said. “The inheritance represents the result of Hsu’s lifelong effort to protect her family. I intend to hand over all authority related to my portion to my mother-in-law.”
Meanwhile, Taiwanese influencer Mandy Ma addressed speculation about Barbie and ex-husband Wang Xiaofei’s children not being present at the unveiling of the memorial sculpture on February 2.
According to Singaporean outlet 8days, Mandy, who is expecting her first child with Xiaofei, explained during a livestream that the children were spending their winter break in Beijing and were therefore unable to travel to Taiwan for the memorial.
She added that Xiaofei has been caring for them during the school holidays, with assistance from his mother and a nanny, and stressed that they are well looked after. Mandy also dismissed suggestions that the children had been left unattended. She reiterated that the family had made arrangements to ensure their daily needs were properly taken care of.
