Anne Curtis’s mom Carmen pays tribute to ex-partner James Curtis-Smith: 'Thank you for the gift of our children'

Anne Curtis’s mother, Carmen, paid tribute to her former partner James Ernest Curtis-Smith who passed away earlier this week. She shared three children with James—Anne, Jasmine, and Thomas James.

On her social media page, Carmen shared an old family photo with her kids, along with a heartfelt message expressing gratitude to her former partner.

“My deepest sorrows for the passing of Mr. James E. Curtis-Smith. Mr. Curtis-Smith, salamat for the memories that we've shared, hindi ko makakalimutan those old days.. and salamat because of the good things in life,” Carmen said.

 

She also reflected on how James changed her life and how they remained good friends despite no longer being together.

“You're the man na nagbigay sa akin ng magandang buhay at hindi ko makakalimutan lahat, thankful kasi we stayed friends,” she said.

Carmen further expressed her gratitude for the love James gave to their children, saying she will always remember him.

“Thank you for the gift of our children, and for always loving them. We will always put beer in basong may yelo for you 🤍🙏🏼🤍,” Carmen wrote.

On Wednesday, January 7, Anne confirmed that her father had passed away.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected yet peaceful passing of our father, James E. Curtis-Smith,” she wrote on behalf of the family.

While the cause of death has not been disclosed as of this writing, Anne emphasized that her father passed away peacefully. 

 

The It’s Showtime host also shared photos of her father from his younger years and from one of his more recent moments. She expressed how he helped shape them into strong and resilient individuals.

“A true patriarch in every sense, he shaped us with strength, resilience, and a wit that will forever echo in our family. He was deeply loved, endlessly admired, and will live on in our hearts always. We will miss him dearly. - The Curtis-Smith Family,” she ended.

Jasmine Curtis-Smith later shared memories of their father through her Instagram Stories following the announcement.

 

In 2023, Anne and her family celebrated her father’s 80th birthday with a beach trip to La Union, where she took time off from her busy schedule to honor her “gentle giant.”

Previously, in 2018, Anne asked fans for prayers as her father underwent an undisclosed medical procedure, from which he later recovered.

In a past episode of It’s Showtime, Anne was moved to tears as her father delivered a heartfelt birthday message for her on air.

 

“Anne, I just hope in the next 30, will be as bright and breezy as it has been," he said. "I’m so proud to have you as my daughter. I’m just so happy and I love you so much,” James said before giving Anne a peck on the cheek.
