Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis shared that her father, James Ernest Curtis-Smith, has passed away. The unfortunate news was revealed on her Instagram account as well as her sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith's account, earlier today, January 7.
The cause of his death has been undisclosed as of this writing but Anne maintained that he “peacefully” passed.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected yet peaceful passing of our father, James E. Curtis-Smith,” she wrote on behalf of the family.
The It’s Showtime host added photos of her father from when he was young and one of the most recent ones she has. She expressed how her father has helped them become strong and resilient people.
“A true patriarch in every sense, he shaped us with strength, resilience, and a wit that will forever echo in our family. He was deeply loved, endlessly admired, and will live on in our hearts always. We will miss him dearly. - The Curtis-Smith Family,” she ended.
Friends and fans of the actress sent their heartfelt messages and condolences in the comment section of her post. Other netizens assured her that they’ll be praying for her late father and the family as they go through a tough and challenging time.
“Hayden and I are so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing Anne. I know you’ve been dreading this day would happen. But, you can take solace in the fact that you super duper took care of him and that you did all you could for not only him but your whole family. That’s why I admire you so much,” celebrity doctor Vicki Belo wrote.
“My deepest condolences @annecurtissmith Sending love and prayers to you and the whole family,” a fan added.

Back in 2023, Anne and her family celebrated the 80th birthday of her father with a beach trip to La Union. She took some time off of her busy schedule to celebrate with her “gentle giant.”
In 2018, she asked fans for prayers as her father underwent an undisclosed procedure which he recovered from.
Details of his wake have yet to be released by the family as of this writing.
