Adam “Randy” Lawyer has strongly denied the allegations of abuse raised against him by his wife, Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez, following her emotional revelations on national television.

On an episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on January 6, host Boy Abunda read a statement sent to the program via email from Randy’s legal counsel. The statement directly addressed Melanie’s accusations and emphasized Randy’s strong denial.

In the statement, Randy’s legal counsel asserted that the accusations were not only as untrue but also as damaging to his reputation.

“Our client, Mr. Adam Lawyer, categorically denies with strongest terms the allegations thrown against him. Ms. Melanie has always been engaged in ostentatiously accusing Mr. Lawyer of abuse, but all of which were found to be baseless or unfounded by the proper forum. This is nothing but an act of harassment suffered by our client; an act of defamation on the part of Ms. Melanie,” wrote Atty. Jecko G. Bello.

The statement was released by Atty. Mitzell Arthur R. Magdaong, Atty. Isabel Perfetua P. Doctolero, and Atty. Jecko G. Bello, who further claimed that Melanie has a pattern of making accusations against her husband.

According to their statement, “Ms. Marquez has a notorious history of hurling ostentatious, fabricated claims of abuse at Mr. Lawyer—every single one previously investigated and dismissed as baseless and unfounded by the appropriate authority/ies and forum/a.”

They also addressed a specific case that Melanie said during her interview, clarifying that the complaint was dismissed by the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati and never reached the court of law.

Randy’s camp went on to describe the renewed allegations as a deliberate attempt to harm him, stating, “This latest stunt is nothing short of malicious harassment, designed to inflict severe reputational damage, emotional distress, and professional harm on our client. Mr. Lawyer will address the particularities of the Ms. Marquez's accusations against him before the Bureau of Immigration, the proper forum.”

This follows Melanie’s recent interview with the King of Talk on January 5, where she publicly shared her side of the story. During the interview, she spoke about alleged physical abuse and revealed that she is seeking the cancellation of Randy’s visa and his blacklisting. She also disclosed that she is filing for divorce from her American husband of more than two decades.

In the interview, Melanie claimed that Randy physically abused her on several occasions, including instances where he allegedly punched her and pointed a gun at her.

“I was verbally abused, iniinsulto niya ako emotionally, financially and mentally,” referring to Randy, the father of two of her children, Adam and Abraham.

She also recounted a deeply troubling experience involving her confinement in medical facilities. Melanie shared that she was placed in a mental hospital in Pasig City for 10 days and later transferred to an undisclosed rehabilitation facility, where she stayed for eight months.

Describing what she said was done to her without consent, Melanie recalled, “In-abduct ako. I was kidnapped against my will. I was judged, nobody talked to me, I could not talk to anyone. My phone got hacked and it was on my birthday – birthday ko mismo – noon in-abduct ako. Because I filed a case against Randy, yung suntok niya sa akin, nawala ako. So noong nawala ako, nilagay ako sa mental hospital, thinking sira ulo ako.”

She maintained that she had not taken any illegal substances and expressed deep feelings of betrayal over what she said happened to her. Reflecting on the incident, she added, “Bigla akong nawala. I was only invited to celebrate my birthday, but I never thought that this celebration will be my trauma.”

Melanie further described being restrained and injected, saying, “Nagulat nga ako eh, in-abduct ako, Kuya Boy, tapos ininjectionan nila ako, I could not move. I was crying because it was clear enough–– betrayal of trust. I don’t wanna mention anybody but I was hurt.”

She also recalled her confusion upon being restrained in the mental hospital, explaining that she was told it was “mandatory,” even though she was not acting out. According to her, after several days, she lost consciousness again and later woke up in a different facility.

“After 10 days [in the mental hospital], hindi ko na nga alam yung day na yun eh, ininjection na naman nila ako. Nawalan ako ng malay. Pag gising ko, iba na ang environment, I'm in the rehab already,” she said.

During her stay at the rehabilitation center, Melanie said she was unable to speak to anyone and communicated only through writing. Upon her release, she claimed the facility found no issues with her health.

“Yes sila mismo, sa rehab, sabi nila wala. Walang problema. Negative lahat.”

Despite her experiences, Melanie said she remains grounded and hopeful, drawing strength from her faith.

Apart from this, she also revisited earlier years of her marriage, alleging that Randy once convinced her to work on a farm in Utah, which she said led to the loss of her unborn child. Melanie further detailed alleged incidents in 2022, when she said Randy pointed a gun at her and later punched her in the ear while she was sleeping. After that incident, she said doctors informed her she had a damaged eardrum, and barangay officials later asked Randy to temporarily leave their home.

She also recounted an alleged 2025 incident in which she claimed Randy punched her in the chest while they were in a car, resulting in a fractured rib that temporarily left her unable to move. Although she reported the incident to the police, she said she chose not to have him arrested and instead filed a protection order.

Melanie additionally alleged that Randy had hurt their son Adam Jr. and her son Mazen, who has autism.

When asked why she waited so long to speak publicly, Melanie explained that all she only wanted was a family.

"But I cannot take this – the abuse that [he’s] doing to me. It’s physical. He’s simply a manipulative person,” she added.

Asked directly if she would now pursue a divorce, Melanie replied, “Yes because ang dami na niyang ginawa sa akin.”

“All I wanted [was] to have peace of mind. I deserve that. I want to be happy. I want to grow, to rise again because he pinned me down,” she maintained.

Melanie and Randy were married in 2000 and have two children together. Melanie also has four children from previous relationships: Michelle Dee, Maxine, Mazen, and Manuelito.
