MANILA -- After a decade, Rachelle Ann Go is returning to the Philippine stage as Fantine in the “Les Misérables World Tour Spectacular.”
The West End star shared that reprising the role now feels even more meaningful, as she has gained a deeper emotional connection and understanding of the character after becoming a mother.

“Iba na pala, mas may hugot. There is hugot,” she said in an interview held during the show’s media call at The Theater at Solaire in Parañaque City on Wednesday.
Go also shared that motherhood has changed how she experiences other scenes in Les Misérables, especially those involving Cosette.
“May moment with the daughter in castle on the cloud, nakakaiyak. I feel like thats my daughter, I sing that song to her every night,” she shared.
According to the theater actress, her daughter, despite still being a toddler, has also grown fond of the song and is already showing an interest in music.
“My daughter is not even three but she loves to sing 'there is a castle on the cloud.' She sings that. She constantly hears it in the background because I always play it. They love music,” she explained.
The London-based talent said she is grateful to be back home performing for fellow Filipinos.
“Filipinos are full of warmth and love. Yesterday we had a first show. It feels so emotional to see them up close. I did this 10 years ago here in the Philippines. And wow, I am still here sining for the Filipino people. Nakakatuwa bumalik sa hometown para haranahin mga kababayan. Ang sarap sa puso. Filipinos are very appreciative of the music,” she said.
Go also expressed pride in seeing more Filipinos shine on global stages like the West End and Broadway.
“The first time I did the show at the West End, ako lang Asian. So I felt outcast ako. Ngayon ang sami na namin. Nakaka proud,” she said.
Apart from Go and theater icon Lea Salonga, other Filipinos part of the production are Red Concepcion and Emily Bautista.
“Les Miserables World Tour Spectacular” will run at The Theater at Solaire until March 1.
