ABS-CBN executive consultant and former president and chief executive officer Charo Santos-Concio shared her thoughts on leadership and the impact it has not just to a business, but to the nation as well.
The award-winning actress, with over half a million followers on TikTok and over 800,000 followers on Instagram, was the guest speaker at the Management Association of the Philippines 2026 inaugural meeting in Taguig.
“Leadership, at its core, is not about being seen. Leadership is about character, who you are, and what matters most to you. And character is about integrity. It is about having courage of your conviction. It is about being responsible,” she said.
More importantly, she said leadership is in the everyday decisions made that in the long run affect the people.
“It lives in the procedures and processes that consider the welfare of the common tao. It is having the attitude of kindness. It is giving a face to the common tao,” she added.
Santos-Concio also highlighted integrity, saying it is not just measured during bad times or special cases, but in the daily meetings and everyday moments in the board room.
“Integrity is the most misunderstood word in leadership. We often speak of it as a personal value, something internal, something abstract. But integrity especially for leaders is not abstract at all. Integrity is operational. It shows up in everyday decisions that never make headlines, who we promote, what behavior we tolerate, which numbers we question, which shortcuts we refused to take even when everyone tells us it is normal,” Santos-Concio said.
She urged also business leaders to value integrity which also makes business sense. This as she believes the role of business plays a very big role in society with the investments made, jobs created, and even on the virtues normalize.
“Nations are not lifted by government alone. They are lifted by institutions that choose to act with integrity even when it is inconvenient,” she added.

Santos-Concio also said she is happy with her expanding online presence with her social media posts gaining popularity on various platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
“I’m having fun and enjoying it and I think we should all do a TikTok later,” Santos-Concio said.
She also said in jest that many videos were challenging to do. “Mahirap pag mga trending ang pinapagawa sa akin. Ang akala nila ang dali-dali pero actually mahirap.”
She said she enjoys doing her short videos with some even having millions of views.
