Actors and onscreen couple Bela Padilla and JC Santos shared how they lasted several years in the showbiz industry and continue to be one of the award-winning actors up until today. In their very first podcast episode of 100 Podcast nina JC at Bela, the two stars recalled their experience and how they made a name for themselves.
Bela and JC have been in the industry for 18 and nine years, respectively. The two have teamed up in several films such as 100 Tula Para Kay Stella, Wish You Were the One, 366, and their latest offering, 100 Awit Para Kay Stella.
Despite having worked together on several films already, the Kapamilya actress maintained that she doesn’t consider themselves as a love team. Both of them never had official onscreen partners as well–– something Bela maintained is needed in the Philippine showbiz industry.
“I think one of the struggles JC and I had was we never had love teams as actors. We kind of had to do our own thing, you know. Kung naging bida ka man or support or kung ano sa mga dramatic shows or films namin before, we were never paired with anyone,” she shared.
“The biggest way to become successful in the Philippine showbiz is to have a love team. Up to this day, I wouldn’t call us a love team–– we just work well together. We do films with each other pero we also do films with other people,” she added.
Bela then shared how this helped her know herself and her craft even more as she now sees the value of it. She reasoned that this is one of the reasons she and JC lasted this long in the industry.

“At the beginning, I would really feel bad about it but now I would see the value in knowing yourself, knowing who you want to be. Sino ka ba sa industriya na 'to kasi ang dami natin. I feel like we wouldn’t last this long if we didn’t know who we are,” she explained.
JC then chimed in and asserted how talent will always be important in the showbiz industry and a pretty face isn’t enough for longevity to which Bela agreed to.
“Ang magpapatagal dito sa'yo ay yung talent mo at hindi yung mukha mo, I promise,” he maintained.
In the same podcast episode, the two narrated how they both wanted to do something else growing up and didn’t expect to be in the showbiz industry. For Bela, she wanted to be in the field of journalism while JC dreamed of being known as a performer.
