Voice talent and content creator Inka Magnaye has broken her silence after being dragged into accusations surrounding the controversial flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In a video posted online, Inka expressed her frustration over what she described as a “witch hunt” that stemmed from an anonymous social media account allegedly involving her partner Mat who is currently working in the said government agency.

“I've been MIA. I’m out of town for taping and honestly, I’m just also trying to center myself amidst all the hateful rumors being directed at us,” Inka said.

She added, “It’s kind of crazy how one post from an anonymous account was all the evidence some people needed to condemn us to a witch hunt. I didn't realize that this was how things work now, and it’s nuts because we don't have a collection of luxury cars. I don't have a collection of very expensive bags. We don't take constant and extravagant trips outside of the country, and yet people are already burning at the stake.”

The content creator revealed that she has been harassed online for the past week, with critics accusing her of staying silent on the issue.

“I've been harassed all week with allegations and people have been posting details of Mat’s work online for everyone to see because they think he is corrupt. That’s doxxing. People have been accusing me of stuff because they said I’ve been quiet, but I‘ve not been quiet,” she stated.

She explained that she chooses to be careful about speaking on topics she does not have full knowledge of, especially those involving her partner’s profession.

“I just haven't been as loud about it because I'm mostly vocal about things that I have personal experience in — like colorism, animal welfare, empowering women through self love, breaking stigma about mental health and some things like that,” she explained.

She also condemned the act of posting her partner’s personal details online: “As a personal rule, I do my best to not speak too loudly about things I don't know much about. When the flood control issue exploded, the last thing I wanted to do was misspeak about Mat’s place of work and cause him to lose his livelihood.”

She added that her approach has been to reshare credible content from political creators and news outlets to help inform her audience while she learns about the issues herself.

Inka stressed that not all government employees are corrupt, pointing out that her partner, like his late father, is one of many who genuinely want to serve the public.

“Not everyone who works in a government agency is corrupt. Don't discount that there are good people there who truly want to serve the public, just like his dad who already passed away before he started working,” she expressed, emphasizing that she is protective of her partner who has a private life.

She then appealed to the public to stop generalizing and harassing employees who have no involvement in the controversy.

“It is so unfortunate that Mat and I, along with so many other people who are not involved in whatever is going on, are getting in the crossfire,” she stated. “So many employees are being physically and verbally harassed just because they are generalized in this whole issue.”

She concluded her message by calling for accountability from those truly responsible, saying: “Please, please remember that speculation is not fact, and to not be distracted by people who are responsible.”

“This issue is way bigger than Mat and I. We — Mat and myself — are legitimate taxpayers and are obviously against corruption of any kind and we want those who mishandled the funds to be held accountable,” she further stressed.

The DPWH flood control projects have been under public scrutiny after allegations of mismanagement and corruption surfaced online, sparking widespread outrage.
