Kapamilya actress Bela Padilla admitted that she has different ideologies with her uncle, incumbent senator Robin Padilla. In a recent interview with veteran broadcaster Karen Davila, she expressed how they’re two different people despite being related to one another.

Bela’s maternal grandmother is the sister of Robin’s mother, Eva Cariño, making her the niece of the senator by second-degree consanguinity.

Growing up as a Jehovah's Witness, the Kapamilya actress explained that it could be a reason it plays a big part in why she has a different take on several political issues as compared to her uncle who is a Muslim.

“Actually, I don’t think I agree with 99 percent of the things he has been fighting for recently, or the ideologies he has,” she shared.

“We’re also very different people–– tito Robin’s muslim first of all, I grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness so doon palang the base of our principles are already very different. Religion does play a big factor in how a person thinks,” she added.

Despite this, she maintained that her uncle is one of “nicest and kindest” people that she knows and recalled how generous and kind hearted he is.

“He is so so nice. He’s very generous. He has such a good heart, but I would do things differently. But you know, that doesn’t mean anything I feel because we’re different people,” she expressed.

In the same interview, she also shared how she has a pet peeve with politicians who don't even study the basics of governance.

“I just really have a big pet peeve for people who run for office and they don’t study even just basic governance. I feel like that should be a prerequisite like I know they give a three-day course to the congressmen who are about to go in–– the new congressmen–– I don’t think all of them attend those three-day sessions. Shouldn’t that be mandatory but also, if they don’t go, who gets mad? Who checks?” she shared.

Bela has been very vocal about her political views and opinions on her social media account which have been praised by her fans and other netizens.
