Filipino-Canadian actor Manny Jacinto made a stop in ABS-CBN Tuesday to chat about his upcoming comedy film "Freakier Friday."
“I don’t know what to expect, I just love being back home to the Philippines and getting to promote the film ‘cause I’ve never been able to come to the Philippines to promote anything,” says Jacinto.
Even though he’s a bit jetlagged, Jacinto is excited for his fan meet and grace the special advance screening at the SM Mall of Asia. His last visit to the Philippines was two years ago and spent Christmas with his parents. He said, every chance he gets, he goes with his parents to spend some time here.
Being back in the Philippines is always a special moment for the actor.
“To connect back to the roots and everything, just to spread love to the Filipino fans. To always touch base, to connect to the community back here ‘coz it means a lot to me,” he said.
For those who are hearing his name for the first time, Manuel Luis Jacinto was born and raised here in the Philippines. He was three years old when his family migrated to Canada. He has done a number of films including "Mortal Kombat" and "Top Gun Maverick" but became a household name in TV series such as "The Good Place," "Nine Perfect Strangers," and in the Netflix horror series "Brand New Cherry Flavor," to name a few.
Despite this success, Jacinto’s mom would always remind him: “Stop being so mayabang... work hard, put your head down and just keep working. I get my work ethic from my parents. That strong Filipino ethic, I don't think I’d be where I am without getting inspired by them.”
