Known as the “Sassy Unica Hija ng Taguig” when she entered the Pinoy Big Brother house earlier this year, Bianca De Vera was able to give fans a more personal look into her during her stint as a housemate. The 23-year-old actress, who first entered showbiz as a child contestant in Junior Master Chef in 2011, sat down in an exclusive interview with PUSH Bets this month to talk more about her life before PBB.
“I’m sure everyone is aware na only child ako. So growing up, I’d say that I had a happy childhood. Masaya ako na only child ako, but at the same time nag-lo-long rin ako for siblings. Most of the time, siyempre mag-isa ako sa bahay because my parents were also very busy growing up. All in all, I had a beautiful childhood,” she told PUSH Bets host Gary Lastrilla.
Bianca also talked about her close relationship with her parents, who have always been supportive of her endeavors. “I’m very close to both of them, but in different ways. Si mommy is like my sister, as in I can talk to her about anything, about my crushes, about girl stuff, about shopping. Best friend ko talaga siya. Si daddy naman, nalalabas niya yung medyo boyish side ko. We race together. Tinutulungan ko siya mag-ayos ng kotse kahit hindi ako masyado marunong,” she shared.
Having learned the value of having humility while growing up, Bianca explained why it was very important to her parents that she wouldn’t let fame get into her head.
“Talagang they really taught me to be grounded no matter what. Kahit ano pang marating mo sa buhay, I feel like it really shouldn’t get into your head. Hindi naman talaga ako pinanganak na mayaman. It just so happened that my parents worked hard enough in order for me to be comfortable. Naalala ko, isa sa mga kuwento nila sa akin noon, gusto lang talaga nila makabili ng diapers and milk for me before. So they worked very, very, very hard. So ayun, ngayon I would say na kumportable kami.
"And they always remind me to be humble kahit ano pa marating ko. I think it all just circles back to humility lang din. Siyempre hindi naman tayo sure kung hanggang kailan yung ingay natin. Alam naman natin na in this industry, we go up and down. So if we let it get the best of us, if kakainin tayo ng yabang, wala tayong mararating. So again, they always remind me to stay grounded,” she recalled.

Even when it comes to her personal life, Bianca admitted that she wants her parents to have a say in her love life. “They make sure to guide me all the time. They always remind me to be careful with the people that I choose to love in the near future. Now, they always tell me to take things slow. Which I’m doing,” she added.
During her PUSH BETS interview, Bianca also shared that one of the best advice she recently got from a parent happened while she was still a housemate. “Isa sa pinakatumatak sa akin was when my mom visited me in PBB. This was the day before I actually got evicted. I was really going through it kasi i was under so much pressure. It was the last big challenge and if we don’t get through it, hindi kami magiging parte ng Big Four. She was reassuring me that everything was going to be okay kung Big Four man (ako) o hindi. Tapos sabi niya sa akin, ‘Just let go and you will be purified like fire.’ Yun yung sabi niya sa akin. That comes from a Bible verse actually, but I’m not sure if it’s the exact words. But until now, it sticks to me,” she said.
