Speaking to reporters after hosting the 37th Star Awards for Television last August 24, Abunda shared that he stays in touch with Aquino and visits her when possible, adding that optimism and prayer are the best support he can offer.

When asked for an update on Aquino's health status, Abunda replied, “Araw-araw [ay] patuloy ang dasal ko [para sa] well-being ni Kris.”

“We are in touch. Nag-uusap kami. Nadadalaw ko kapag may pagkakataon. And I continue to pray to God na she be well. Ako’y umaasa, positibo that she will be well,” he told showbiz journalists.

The King of Talk pointed out that it is difficult to provide specific facts about Aquino's current health situation, therefore praying is the best thing they can do.

“Mahirap ‘yun, eh, na mag-categorize ka. Autoimmune is a very difficult condition,” he said.

Abunda also told the media that he will always be there to guide Aquino's son, James "Bimby" Aquino, in reference to Aquino's statement that Bimby will be taken care of by him.

“I wanna clarify that. Habilin, kasi, can be mishumor. Kahit anong mangyari, may sakit man or wala si Kris, responsibilidad ko si Bimby, bilang ninong o kaibigan nang matagal na panahon,” he shared.

The TV host then said that they continue to discuss Aquino's showbiz comeback, which was previously reported.

“Wala pa pero ‘yun ay dapat pag-usapan. But we keep on talking about it,” he ended.

Abunda co-hosted the 37th Star Awards for TV alongside Pops Fernandez, Elijah Canlas, Gela Atayde, and Robi Domingo.
