Global superstar Taylor Swift had another surprise for her fans as she announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs football star Travis Kelce.
On social media, Taylor shared fairytale-like photos of herself and Travis, showing off her engagement ring.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Taylor wrote in the caption.
She also reposted the photos on her Instagram Story alongside her track “So High School” from the deluxe edition of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.
Within just 40 minutes of posting, Taylor’s announcement had already gained more than 5 million likes on Instagram and became a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter).
Their romance traces back to July 2023, when Travis attended Taylor’s Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Afterward, Travis revealed on his New Heights podcast that he had hoped to meet her but didn’t get the chance.
"I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," Travis said.
By September, he invited Taylor to watch him play at Arrowhead. In an interview on The Pat McAfee Show, he recalled telling her: "I've seen you rock the stage at Arrowhead [Stadium]. You might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead and see which one's a little more lit."
Later that month, Taylor was spotted at a Chiefs game supporting him.
In her TIME Person of the Year interview that December, Taylor confirmed their romance began after Travis “adorably” mentioned her on his podcast.
"We started hanging out right after that,” she said, noting they had time to know each other privately before going public. She clarified that when she was first seen at a Chiefs game, they were already in a relationship.
"I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date," Taylor joked.
By July 2025, Travis finally shared glimpses of their relationship on Instagram, marking the first time Taylor appeared on his feed.
Fans expressed happiness for the couple, celebrating a new chapter in their lives.
“taylor is finally living her fairytale dreams that she would write songs about as a teenager someone SEDATE ME,” a fan said.
Another one expressed, “I AM CRYING THIS IS SO PERFECT. THIS IS EVERYTHING. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. TAYLOR DESERVES THE WORLD. I AM HOWLING.”
The engagement comes shortly after Taylor revealed her next album, The Life of a Showgirl, set for release on October 3. She made the announcement on the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce.
