MANILA -- Actress Liza Soberano, who recently admitted in a podcast that she and Enrique Gil have broken up three years ago, has apologized and expressed her gratitude to the actor in an unreleased video of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."

In the 12-minute video, which was taped on last March 7, 2023, Soberano confirmed to Abunda that she and Gil have parted ways because "we grew apart."

"Last year was a tough year for the both of us. It was a huge changing point in both of our lives. And it started when I started wanting change for myself professionally and also I want change for myself in my personal life. I want to create healthy boundaries between my family, my friends, people in my life because before that I honestly didn't have any. And he has a better understanding of that because I mean I don't need to go into details but while I was looking for myself I didn't realized that he was also just as lost and so there was a lot of miscommunication that when on," she told Abunda.

"And I feel like I should say sorry for not being as understanding or being able to see his struggles because I was struggling at the same time too. But I want to say thank you because he was very understanding of the whole situation. 'Til now he supports me with everything that I do. And he's always been a good friend to me, a good boyfriend. And you know everything that I have right now, lahat ng success ko, he was the person that I got to share that with and it was a good experience," Soberano added.

According to Abunda, the program did not release the video in 2023 after Soberano requested them not to do so because Gil was not yet ready for the public to find out that they've already parted ways.

Abunda said they are now showing the interview because Soberano just recently admitted in a documentary podcast that she and Gil have called it quits.

Abunda also shared his opinion after Soberano shared her struggles and traumas as a child in the podcast.

"I was struck noong sinabi ni Lisa that the first time she felt that she was worthy of love was when she met Quen at noong nagkaroon siya ng mga fans. In that vlog, Liza endured a lot of trauma in her life. Pain and suffering that no child, no human being deserves. I can not imagine how hard it must have been for Liza na balikan ang mga pang-aabuso na pinagdaanan niya at ng kanyang nakababatang kapatid. But pain reveals the truth. Through her story we now have a better of understanding of Liza as a person and as public  figure, a better understanding of her choices and her truth. Mas naiintindihan na natin ngayon saan nanggagaling ang kanyang takot na isapubliko ang breakup nila ni Quen because sa pamamagitan ng kanilang relasyon, sa pamamagitan ng kanilang love team na minahal ng milyon-milyong Filipino, she found the comfort of love that she longed for since she was a child," Abunda said.
