MANILA — A lawmaker filed a House resolution seeking to nominate late actor Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon, Sr. for National Artist for his “magnificent body of work and championing of Filipino values for all generations of Filipinos.”

Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua filed House Resolution No. 41 on July 9, Wednesday, a day before the late comedian’s 13th death anniversary.

The National Artist is the highest national recognition given to individuals who made significant contributions to Philippine arts and culture.

The House resolution orders the House committees on Creative Industries and Basic Education & Culture to conduct hearings and other steps to formally nominate Quizon to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Quizon, who died in 2012 due to multiple organ failure, was interred at Heritage Park in Taguig City.
