Kapamilya actor Ralph de Leon comes from a political family who served as mayors in Tanza, Cavite in the past. Despite having such a background, Ralph assured people that he, alongside his cousins, have no plans of entering politics–– now or in the future.
In an interview with Pinoy Big Brother host Bianca Gonzalez for her Paano Ba ‘To podcast, the High Street star expressed that he has a bigger platform as a celebrity to help other people as compared to running for public office.
The former Pinoy Big Brother housemate shared that since they were young, he and his cousins have already discussed not entering the political scene.
“Ever since talaga kami mga mag pipinsan, parang we wanted to as soon as possible, get out of politics na. Kasi, alam naman po natin sa mga panahon ngayon medyo delikado na din. Lives are being taken left and right because of politics, because of whatever issues they have in their provinces or in their towns. Feeling namin talaga na we just didn’t want any part of that,” he shared.
Ralph added how they still want to help the public but would do so in other ways outside the realms of politics.
“Alam namin, yes, gusto namin tumulong sa taong bayan, gusto namin magkaroon ng good impact siyempre. But for us, there were other ways to do that and we didn’t need politics to be able to help other people and thankfully nabigyan ako ng platform ngayon na mas madami talaga yung narereach ko,” he added.
One of the many ways that he could help is through his budding career in the entertainment industry. Ralph claimed how this is his way of giving back to the public.
“I feel like kahit mag mayor ako–– tumakbo akong mayor–– I feel like my impact now will still have a much bigger effect than if I were in that position. I really want to use this platform talaga to be able to help, to be able to give back. That’s how it should be–– if you’re blessed with so much, you should also be able to bless other people,” he explained.
When asked why he wanted to enter the entertainment industry, the Kapamilya actor shared how he wanted to explore his options. Coming from a modeling and commercial background, Ralph shared that it was just the perfect time for him to test the waters in acting.
“The doors opened nga and I was able to join Star Magic and ever since I fell in love with the whole process of being an actor,” he said.
“Hopefully, in the future pa I want to be cemented as one of the greats siyempre–– nothing less,” he ended.
