(UPDATE) K-pop megastar Suga of BTS is nearing the end of his alternative mandatory military service, his agency announced Wednesday, urging fans to refrain from visiting the site of his discharge.
"Suga is close to completing his service as a social work personnel and will soon be discharged," BigHit Music said in a notice on the fan community platform Weverse.
While BigHit did not state the discharge date of the 32-year-old rapper and producer, reports indicate that Suga is set to complete his mandatory military service on June 21.
He has been serving as a social service agent, an alternative to active duty. This is likely due to a shoulder surgery he underwent in 2020, according to reports.
The label added that "no special events are planned on the day of Suga's discharge" and appealed to fans not to visit the discharge site in order to prevent overcrowding.
"We are always grateful for your unwavering love and support for Suga," it said. "Our company will continue to put our utmost effort into supporting our artists."
Once Suga is discharged, all seven members of BTS will have completed their mandatory military service, a requirement for most able-bodied men under 30 in South Korea.
This paves the way for a full-group reunion of the septet, the first K-pop act to top major music charts in the United States.

All seven BTS members attended the recent final stop of J-Hope's world tour in Goyang, South Korea, where Jin and Jungkook joined him on stage.
Talks of a full-group comeback in 2025 or 2026 have circulated, but the band's agency, HYBE, has said the members "need time for reflection and preparation."
Earlier this month, members RM, V, Jungkook and Jimin were also discharged from the military. Jin and J-Hope, meanwhile, finished their service in 2024.
