MANILA -- Actress Sharon Cuneta expressed gratitude on Tuesday after her husband Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan's surprise strong showing in partial, unofficial results of the Senate elections.
Pangilinan was among the top 5 Senate candidates with 80.44 percent of election returns canvassed as of 8:02 a.m.
In her social media post, Cuneta said, "I believe that miracles still happen."
"All we did before and apart from our hard work in the campaign was Pray, Trust, Pray, Praise and Glorify God no matter what! And last night over dinner with our son, we prayed with our angel girls at home and said that no matter the outcome, we would praise Him! And we thanked Him with all our hearts for just the opportunity for Kiko to 'apply' to be a servant of the people," Cuneta wrote.
The Megastar thanked all the Filipinos who voted for her husband.
"Maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyong mga nagtiwala, naniniwala, sumusuporta, nangampanya, nagtyaga sa hirap, init at pagod, nagdasal, at bumoto kay Kiko kahapon," she said.
Cuneta then hit trolls who supposedly tried to bring down Pangilinan.
"Walang epek ang sobrang paninira ng trolls at mga nagpapabagsak sa kanya! Wala naman silang sinabi sa inyong mga nag-isip na botante at lalong lalo na sa Panginoon! Mabuhay ang ating mahal na Pilipinas! May God bless us all!! God bless and guide my Kiko to be his best senator-self yet!!! Mahal na mahal po namin kayo," Cuneta added.
Cuneta ended her post by congratulating Bam Aquino, who placed second in the Senate race's partial, unofficial results.
"God is good and faithful to those who love and serve Him an our people!!! God bless you!!! We love you, BAM," Cuneta said.
In an interview with Karen Davila on Tuesday morning, Pangilinan shared that Cuneta was also shocked with the result.
"Pareho kaming nagulantang at nagdasal at nagpasalamat. Yeah, we were really very surprised na naging ganito yung turnout. Kaya talagang sige lang sai ko. So we were thankful, we prayed, we were extemely happy," Pangilinan said.
