MANILA -- National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor, who passed away on April 16, was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City on Tuesday, April 22.

Aunor's casket was brought to Taguig after a state necrological service to honor her was held at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila.

Aunor, who passed away at the age of 71, was given full military honors. 

The state funeral was attended by her family, relatives, friends and her solid fans, Noranians.


After a funeral mass, the final viewing for the family of Aunor followed. Her family closed her casket at 12:30 in the afternoon.


At 12:35 p.m. Aunor was finally laid at her final resting place. 


The Philippine flag was received by Aunor's son Ian de Leon. 

During the state necrological service on Tuesday morning, Aunor was remembered by fellow National Artist Ricky Lee, veteran filmmaker and actor Joel Lamangan and screen veteran and former ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos.

Born Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, Aunor started her entertainment career in the 1960s as a singer and was known for her "golden voice."

She went on to do powerful portrayals in films such as "Himala" in 1982, "Bulaklak sa City Jail" in 1984, and "The Flor Contemplacion Story" in 1995. 

Aunor received recognition and awards for her acting prowess, including Best Actress honors at Gawad Urian and FAMAS for her performance in "Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos."

Aunor had a biological child, Ian, with former husband actor Christopher de Leon, as well as four adopted children -- Lotlot, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth.
