Having been part of the country’s longest running singing competition since it became part of It’s Showtime in 2016, Karylle explained what she thinks is the secret to its longevity on television during the All Star Tawag ng Tanghalan Grand Resbak Media Con held earlier this month inside ABS-CBN.
“Isa siyang palaisipan. Even ako as a host, I am so fortunate because I always have the best seats in the house. I love watching all of them. Siguro yung experience na makikita mo that they are giving their best at that very moment. At saka alam mo yung madalas na sinasabi na pangarap kong makatungtong dito sa entebladong ito? There’s something sacred and beautiful about the TnT stage. May powers siya na siguro nagbibigay ng saya, katuparan ng pangarap ng mga sumasali dito. It’s that energy that remains and then continues. Kasi may na-i-inspire ka. Kaya siya siguro palakas ng palakas at hindi pa rin siya natatapos, dahil yung iba may unfinished business, yung iba naman, meron silang natulungan na magkaroon ng bridge para sa pangarap nila,” she shared.
As one of the hurados along with Ogie Alcasid, Jed Madela, and Louie Ocampo, Karylle couldn’t help but share her excitement at seeing all 48 of the returning contestants again during the press event.
“Samu’t saring excitement na nakikita ko yung mga napakagagaling na contestant. Ako kasi napaka-inspired ako sa mga resbakers kasi may kakaiba silang dugo. Iba nga apoy na nag-aalab sa kanilang damdamin. Hindi nawawala eh. It’s very inspiring to see. Kumukuha ako ng lakas sa kanila seeing that they never gave up. So they are my inspiration. So thank you to them for coming back again and again,” she added.

Karylle said that even though they may have been eliminated during their first time joining Tawag ng Tanghalan, she has high hopes for all the resbakers, who range from contestants from the very first season in 2016.
“I think one of the biggest things talaga na nakikita ko sa grupong ito, ang galing ng pangarap ano? Kahit anong talo, hindi mo siya mapapatay. At sila yung testament sa ganun. And I think dahil marami sa kanila nakasalamuha ko talaga pagkatapos nilang umalis dito, naririnig ko rin yung mga kuwento nila and it’s sad. Because when you lose, you have to feel sad. But you get back up and you move on. And that is the human spirit. Yun talaga yung dapat nating sini-celebrate. Yung favorite part ko in any season is yung resbak. Ang sarap mapanuod eh. Sa panahon na mahirap, talagang sila yung ganyan dapat. They are people to be idolized and recognized and given yet another chance, if they will take it. Because we celebrate them every time they are on stage. So they are so worth of our love,” she exclaimed.

When asked what she would advise to the contestants to help them create an impact with all the judges, Karylle said being mentally ready is as equally important as preparing for a good performance.
“Everyone has competed more than one time here. I think kung ano man yung kailangan nila isipin for that day, isipin nila that they will be your own worst enemy. So prepare yourself. Take youself out on dates, yung mga ganyan di ba? Ngayon naman kahit papano ang dami ng ways online on how to get rid of the nerves and anxiety. So use those tools and exercises kasi they do work. Be inspired. Magbalik tanaw kayo habang andito kayo,” she advised.
