MANILA — While “The Alibi” star Kim Chiu’s hometown was not directly affected by the flooding that ravaged parts of Cebu province, she expressed heartbreak over the devastation.
“Sana magawa na lahat ng dapat gumawa ng paraan. Para hindi na maulit,” the actress, who is a native of Cebu City, said in an interview held in Quezon City, Wednesday. “Sa amin, hindi naman binaha. Pero it is the first time nangyari sa amin sa Cebu nagka ganoon kalalang baha. And sino nanaman sisihin natin?”
Chiu has always kept Cebu close to her heart. The actress previously extended help for residents affected by the earthquake that struck Bogo City and San Remigio.

Chiu, along with the production team of “The Alibi,” personally experienced the earthquake as it hit while they were filming in Cebu.
“Just hearing the news and devastation of the earthquake, ang hirap pagpatuloy trabaho habang alam mo may nangangailangan ng tulong,” Paulo Avelino, who leads the Prime Video series, recalled.
Chiu shared that while everyone in the production was safe, they were shaken by the experience.
“Medyo nakaka-praning lang. Naka-stay kami lahat sa hotel. Non-stop aftershocks, so lahat ng kasama namin — sina Ms. Zsa Zsa, sina Sir John… may konting lindol, may dala sila bag at baba sila agad,” she explained.
