MANILA — Klarisse de Guzman arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1 on Saturday, November 29, as she is set to fly to Japan to perform at iWant Happy Hour during this year’s Philippine Festival Tokyo, happening over the weekend at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo.
Thousands of Filipinos are expected to gather to celebrate the richness of Philippine heritage at the event, which highlights culture, cuisine, and traditions.
“Sobrang nakakataba ng puso kasi somehow nadadala namin ‘yung Philippines sa kanila,” de Guzman said, referring to her upcoming performance."
(It’s very heartwarming because somehow we’re able to bring a piece of the Philippines to them.)
As the holiday season approaches, she said visiting kababayans and singing for them live feels like an early celebration.
“Malapit na ang Pasko, so parang mapapaaga ang Pasko natin doon.”
(Christmas is near, so it’s like we’ll be celebrating Christmas early there.)
She also teased the possibility of a duet performance with a fan attending the festival.
“Sana meron tayong makasama sa stage, makaka-duet natin sa Tokyo… excited na ako kantahan silang lahat.”
(I hope we get to share the stage with someone, someone we can duet with in Tokyo… I’m excited to sing for all of them.)

With her last trip to Japan dating back to before the pandemic, Klarisse shared her excitement about finally being able to try authentic Japanese food again and enjoy the cooler weather.
“Ngayon malamig doon, magpapalamig muna tayo sa Tokyo. [Excited din ako] sa pagkain, yung mismong Japan, yung paligid ng Japan sobrang linis kasi. Excited akong bumalik ulit,” she added.
(It’s cold there now, so we’ll cool off a bit in Tokyo. I’m also excited for the food—the real Japan—and the surroundings, because Japan is so clean. I’m excited to go back.)
