Kapamilya actor Joel Torre expressed his grief after his good friend of more than five decades, Dwight Gaston, passed away. On his Facebook account, the Incognito star recalled all the memories they had together, both professionally and personally.

Dwight was 66 years old at the time of his passing. His cause of death remains undisclosed by his family as of this writing.

“Oh Dwight, the umbilical cord has been cut,” he wrote.

Joel shared how they both shared the passion for the arts that had grown over the years of working side by side.

“After more than 50 Years of friendship, from the first play we co-directed through the Maskara Theater years, the Los Curachas, the Yamuhat Festivals, from ‘Oro Plata Mata’ to ‘ Amigo, those creative times and laughter was at its best,’” he added.

Joel described how the late veteran actor was still showing his “incredible humor” in his final days.

“Even the time you knew of your last few days, your incredible humor was still on full display. At my lowest time you said it best, ‘this too shall pass.’ How I wish I could say the same farewell thee my dearest friend,” he expressed.

The veteran actor maintained that while the “umbilical cord” may have been cut, their friendship will remain the same.

“As in Black comedy they would say, ‘the bigger the laughter, the deeper the pain.’ The last time I visited you, we laughed so hard [that] I had to leave for you to rest. And as I cry, that laughter lingers for now. I know that [the] umbilical cord of ours shall remain and always will be there,” he said.

“Love gid ya! Your dearest friend, Joel,” he ended.

Friends and fans of the actor expressed their words of comfort in the comment section of his post.

Dwight starred in several films such as Amigo; Oro, Plata, Mata; Scorpio Nights; and Batang Z, among others. He was also in the hit kids’ show, Batibot, where he played the role of Kuya Dwight.
