Karylle recently looked back on her encounter with ex-boyfriend Dingdong Dantes, who appeared on the noontime show It’s Showtime in June to promote his film Only We Know.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, the actress-host admitted that it was only during this encounter that she finally felt ready to face him again.
"I did see a lot of clips, and I wouldn't have put myself in a situation na hindi ako handa siguro. So sometimes people judge na, 'Bakit hindi mo hinaharap?' Minsan hindi ka pa handa, so why would you put yourself in a situation na baka may magawa kang hindi exactly maganda," she explained.
"Before [hindi pa ako handa]. Kasi parang some people were like, 'Are you avoiding?' Sabi ko, 'Hindi. Minsan, nagkakataon lang na you're also working or doing theater shows, etcetera."
When Dingdong guested on It's Showtime, Karylle described the encounter as "a beautiful moment." She highlighted: "Because I did see some comments saying na parang then you see all is well. I think with every public breakup, it's a bit hard."
When asked if she sees herself being with friends with Dingdong down the road, she replied: "I don't know if 'friends' is the word. I would imagine, being people in the same industry, we could support each other."
The Quezon star went on: "I see that he supports our movie, I did my best to kind of support their own movies, so I think supporting each other, maybe. The friendship, I don't think is in the cards anymore."
Back in 2018, Karylle also opened up about a chance encounter with Marian Rivera, Dingdong's wife, and described it as "a beautiful moment" as well.
That meeting was brought up in an episode of It’s Showtime in 2018 when Vice Ganda mentioned a conversation he had with Karylle.
Referring to Vice’s revelation, Karylle said during an interview that year: "Hindi ko talaga siya isi-share sa public, kaya lang... Mahal na mahal ko si Vice. Siguro natuwa lang siya for me, kaya na-share lang niya."
Karylle added: "Dahil nanggaling sa kanya (Vice Ganda), feeling ko mas maganda. Kung manggaling pa sa akin, baka ma-misinterpret lang, so I'll just leave it at that. It was a beautiful moment."
Marian echoed the same sentiment in a past interview, saying: "Wala naman talagang problema sa akin since day one, e. Siguro ito ang tamang panahon na nagkita kaming dalawa... Mas maganda talaga pag pinaiiral mo ang love."
