Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu’s statement was once used against her and made into memes on social media but she remained resilient and powered through with her successful career. It was back in 2020 when the actress made a confusing analogy about the ABS-CBN Shutdown to a classroom set-up.
This was the same year when ABS-CBN artists spoke up about keeping the franchise of ABS-CBN amidst the COVID-19 pandemic–– unsure of what was to come in the following months.

“Sa classroom may batas, bawal lumabas, oh bawal lumabas. Pero pag sinabi, pag nag-comply ka na bawal na lumabas pero may ginawa ka sa pinagbabawal nila, inayos mo yung law ng classroom niyo at sinumbit mo ulit ay pwede na pala ikaw lumabas,” she previously shared.
Netizens who watched the interview were left confused by her statement and others turned it into a meme. Kim admitted that she felt hurt with the words thrown at her on social media and avoided using the platforms at the time.
Weeks after the incident, she took back her power by going on social media again and using the situation to her advantage. She released the “Bawal Lumabas” single which received more than 10 million views across all social media platforms in one day.

The song charted in several music stream platforms which proved that the Kapamilya actress is more than just one bad video. She released limited edition merchandise where the proceeds were donated to charity. Fans of Kim applauded her for standing back up even when bashers tried to drag her down.
Since then, Kim has successfully proven herself as an actress–– starring in several hit series and films. She has also shared that she has gotten over the Bawal Lumabas issue to which she just laughs every time it is brought up.
Meanwhile, the Kapamilya actress is set to star in the upcoming series, The Alibi, starring alongside her on screen partner, Paulo Avelino. The series will be airing on streaming platform, Prime, in the near future.
