Rachelle Ann Go opened up about her journey moving to London to pursue a career in theater.

In an interview with Boy Abunda, the singer recounted that the journey was initially challenging.

"The first few years it was very hard. I moved there without an agent, without a manager dahil sa Miss Saigon," she said.

The singer went on: "Pagdating ko dun kailangan ready ka. I didn't have any training or whatsoever with like theater, lahat sila trained. They did a lot of shows before they did Miss Saigon. Ako first time. Ang hirap."

Rachelle moved to London in 2014 when she became part of the West End revival of Miss Saigon. She played the role of Gigi Van Tranh.

The singer recalled that she was feeling homesick at that time as well. "Wala akong friends, walang church so napakahirap," she said.

Rachelle has now an agent and has starred in several theater productions.

"I have an agent [now], pareho po kami ni Ms. Lea Salonga ng agent. Pinakilala po siya ni direk Bobby Garcia sa amin. Now I am very blessed dahil nakilala ko po sila," she said.

On what made her decide to move abroad despite a thriving career in the Philippines back then, Rachelle recounted: "That time gusto ko pong mangyari nun, gusto ko i-challenge 'yung sarili ko eh. Kasi nandito ako sa Pinas, parang sabi ko, parang may kulang."

"I don't know, parang pareho 'yung ginagawa ko, I was singing the same songs, doing the shows, concerts, pero sabi ko gusto kong ma-experiences something different and God gave that to me."

Rachel shared that her husband, Martin Spies, has been very supportive of her career.

"Nagto-tour kasi kami from Hamilton, tapos 'yung Les Miserables, talagang suportado po talaga niya ako," she said.

Rachel recently visited the Philippines to celebrate the holidays with her family in the country.

"Every other year umuuwi kami ng family ko, si Martin and 'yung two kids, to celebrate Christmas and new year with my family here. Seven weeks po kaming nandito since December pa po. I'm very happy," she said.
