Former actress Rica Peralejo revealed the reason why she decided to forego the opportunity to run at the recently concluded Taipei Marathon. On her Instagram account, the celebrity mom shared that she chose to prioritize her son’s recital, which was a day before her supposed run.
Rica has been posting on social media, sharing both her training for her races and how she is as a mother who is willing to drop everything for her children.

She revealed that her son’s recital date wasn’t announced until after she signed up for the half-marathon category of the Taipei Marathon. In one of the screenshots she uploaded, she was deciding if she would still continue the race despite the limited time she had to fly out of the country.
“I was already in the thick of racking up my mileage for a half mary when the recital dates were announced,” she narrated.
It was one of the few occasions when her son wanted to join the recital. The the celebrity mom shared how her son wanted to overcome his fear of being on stage.
“How can a mother not honor that?” she asked.
Rica then shared that, for the second time this year, she chose to grant his wish over hers–– something mothers like her could relate to.

“While I could have pushed it I also know I would rush celebrating with him and lingering in the joy of this season with him had I chosen to honor my own wishes. So for a second time this year my wishes were put aside for his. Which probably happens to many moms out there on the daily,” she said.
While she knows she made the right decision of showing her support for her son, Rica couldn’t help but have an ache in her heart, acknowledging that both can exist.
“It didn’t hurt as much as the others though this time because I think I also have seen God move in my life wherein the delays become negligible in the long run. God makes things for you perfect in His time. Maybe it isn’t time to run a half yet. But at all, that I can run, with or without a race, makes me grateful,” she shared.
Several comments applauded her for being a great mother as she made tough decisions. Other netizens commended the former actress for recognizing her emotions and weighing out what mattered for her more.
Earlier this year, Rica and her son flew to Australia for the Sydney Marathon where she was unable to compete as she mistakenly signed up for the full-marathon instead of the 10-kilometer race.
