Teddy Corpuz, frontman of the OPM band Rocksteddy, opened up about his experience as a judge for the It’s Showtime Kalokalike segment.
In an exclusive interview, Teddy shared that choosing which contestants would advance to the next round wasn’t easy.
“Para maging isang hurado sa Kalokalike, medyo mahirap siya na task kasi you have to really be specific,” Teddy told PUSH.
“We have to be very very specific when it comes to ito ba kung ka-look-a-like ba ito or ano. Mahirap kasi magkakaiba kami ng opinions ng ibang mga hurado,” he added.
Teddy, along with fellow host and rockstar Jugs Jugueta, is part of the judging panel for the fourth season of the popular segment. Joining them are actresses Gladys Reyes and Rufa Mae Quinto, former Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados, and actor Richard Yap.
The panel selected their top 30 from 70 daily winners who will advance to the grand finals.
Teddy revealed that sometimes the judges don’t discuss their individual scores for contestants beforehand.
“Minsan hindi na kami nag uusap usap kung sino yung hurado. Bahala na lang iyong scores namin ang magdictate kung sinong mananalo. Kami ni Jugs di namin alam kung sinong manalo for us,” he shared.
Although Teddy admitted the difficulty of their task, he still commended all the contestants who joined Kalokalike.
“Medyo mahirap siya pero it’s an honor also,” he said. “Hindi lang Kalokalike yung mga contestants. Magagaling din silang mga artists and performers. Ayon yung nakakabilib sa kanila.”
Teddy expressed that he and the other judges appreciate how they were able to portray the celebrities and personalities they are impersonating and how seriously they take on their roles.
“Ang gagaling ng boses. Ang gagaling kumanta. Yung iba kahit hindi sila ganoon kagaling kumanta o magaling sa talent pero in their mind silang sila yung pinopotray nila,” he said.
“Kabisado nila kung saan yung gig nito, kung anong pangalan ng sawa nito, ng mga anak nila. Ang galing din na inaaral ng mga contestants kung sino yung mga ginagaya nila,” he added.

During the Top 30 semi-finalists announcement on November 16, Teddy and Jugs reflected on the difficulty of their task.
“Dito sa Kalokalike, ineenjoy lang namin ni Pareng Juggy yung every day pero dumating kami sa punto na kailangan na pala namin magseryoso,” Teddy said.
“Alam niyo yun wala kaming maitulak kabigin. Kung pwede nga lahat gusto namin maretain, at may ilan na parang medyo ano,” he added.
“Parang ito yung pinaka-malakas na season natin kaya congratulations sa inyong lahat. Napakagagaling ninyo,” Jugs added.
