MANILA - Ending years of speculation, actor-singer Jericho Rosales finally admitted that it was his decision to break up with former sweetheart Kristine Hermosa.
In an interview during the press conference of their new project "Dahil May Isang Ikaw," Rosales admitted that he couldn't handle the pressure of having a romantic affair with the young actress while he was busy with his career.
He also said they used to fight often before they finally called it quits.
"Ako. Ako nga ang (nakipaghiwalay). Hindi ko lang kinaya ang pressure ng mga trabaho ng lahat," Rosales said.
"Mayroon lang kaming mga issues noon ni Tin na hindi namin kinaya as partner[s]. I mean, I decided [na] siguro mas maganda maghiwalay muna tayo kasi nag-aaway na kami palagi," he added.
The actor insisted he didn't leave Hermosa, but rather, let her go. "Iba naman po yong iniwan sa (nagpaalam)," Rosales said.
Rosales said he never planned on publicly talking about his past relationship with Hermosa, out of respect for his former love.
"Honest naman ako kahit kailan pero hindi ko naman in-expect na maging honest ako sa harap ng may isang daang tao. Dapat kasi sa atin (talking to Hermosa) lang ito," Rosales said.
Moving past their differences, Rosales said he is thrilled to be working with Hermosa again.
"I feel happy for her and I feel good that we are like this and I'm just happy for whatever. Hindi naman siya masyadong nagkukuwento sa akin. Basta noong una naming shoot, nag-usap kami. Of course I care for Tin and 'yon po siguro ang importante. Kung may tanong siya sa akin ay i-text niya lang ako," he said.
This time, the former sweethearts will rekindle their love onscreen for ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Dahil May Isang Ikaw."
The show marks the reunion of Hermosa and Rosales. This is also the second primetime show of award-winning actress Lorna Tolentino on ABS-CBN after 8 years.
Premiering on August 24, Monday, "Dahil May Isang Ikaw" also stars John Estrada, Chin Chin Gutierrez, Karylle, Sid Lucero and comeback actor Gabby Concepcion. abs-cbnNEWS.com.
